Esprit de Finesse is a tribute project, for the bicentenary of Mendelssohn's birth, a sign of love for the composer whose music does not rebel against the world, has not got the titanic moral power of more subversive authors, but it has a fascinating evocative power, alike the Sogno (Dream) and the Viaggio (Journey). For this reason it is very close to the contemporaneousness.
Robert Olzer rereads at first keeping stuck to the text and later giving space to his exceptional improvisation verve, with a learned pianism and fascinating at the same time, being affected by the philosophic culture that, through Pascal, runs in the soul subsoil, looking for its own and universal personal dynamic of Luce (Light) and Notte (Night).
Next to Mendelssohn's music, some original compositions that Olzer has dedicated to the great German composer with evocative power.
An extraordinary tribute, which respects, without being conventional, a learned pianism with an unusual profundity.
