The musician's alive rituals, composition and improvisation, are strongly penetrated in this work, the project of a research group (with Francesco Ganassin, Stefano Battaglia, Andrea Lamacchia and Andrea Ruggeri) that, basing on the historical and aesthetic evocations, studies and observes the masks and the rites through contemporaneous eyes.
Rituali studies and gives back into music the ancestral meaning of the masking, one of the Man's inner world and, as a Rite, a mean of expression and synthesis; today degenerated to decorative and cover functions and emptied by any meaning. Rituali tries, through the synthesis of arcane sounds and learned evocations and of improvisation and composition, to give back to the masking its original expression role. The result is an arcane but very modern music, where the ancestrality of Ganassin's reeds and of Ruggeri's percussion objects and Lamacchia's double bass pulsating sound are the spur for Battaglia's piano skill and where composition and improvisation is melted with their original and authentic syncretism.
